Who needs a life coach?

We set goals in many areas of our lives--from family to finances, from fitness to spiritual growth. But day-to-day pressures and conflicting demands on our attention hinder our success in defining and pursuing what we really want. Where are you in your life, right now? What do you want in your relationships and your professional life? Why don't you have those things now? If you wanted to play a better game of golf, you would work with a coach. If you want to play a better game of life, why not do the same?

What is the benefit of coaching?

A personal life coach gives you an outside perspective of where you are, where you want to be, and how to get there. Knowing these answers enables you to develop that personal roadmap for success, the clear vision of where you want to go and the confidence and know-how to get there. Working with a success coach gives you the opportunity to enhance your natural strengths, increase your understanding of yourself and others, and move toward fulfilling your life's purpose.

What does life coaching entail?

Systematic and personal, life coaching is a proven technique of exploring your beliefs and assumptions. It can take place over the telephone and email, making it convenient, efficient and productive. Your success coach focuses completely on you, on your desires, success, and choices. On what's really important, rather than just urgent. On letting go of self-defeating beliefs and behaviors. With your life coach, you'll develop your ability to think clearly, solve problems creatively, and unleash your full potential.

Your life coach will use an "active questioning/active listening" process, challenging you and guiding you through a process of seeing yourself and your life more clearly. You'll talk about your goals and your dreams and figure out what's keeping you from them. This is a collaborative process, not a place to get advice. Coaching is a creative process of finding out what is important and how to have it. There are assessment tools and a simple, yet individually designed map available to help achieve the life you want.

What are the steps involved in a coaching session?

The steps are simple:

  1. Make the call: 213-952-7945 or email me to express an interest. Include how I can reach you and what some convenient times would be.
  2. We will have a 20-30 minute conversation on what you hope to change by the coaching process.
  3. This step varies depending on what the goals are; however, we will establish a format for the next 4 sessions.
  4. There will be two assessment tools you will take. The PIAV (Motivational Questionnaire) takes 10 minutes to complete and the MBTI (found in the Assessment section) takes about 30 minutes to complete. You can take these on your computer or I can send them to you and you can either mail or fax them back to me.
  5. Strategic Planning: This is a personalized process that shows you how to leverage your strengths in order to create and achieve your vision for the present and the future. This part of the process can take a surprisingly short time if you are ready, willing and able. Sometimes more time is needed to uncover unconscious assumptions that keep some from attaining what they want in life and in business.
  6. Analyze probability of success.
  7. Test and implement action steps.
  8. A complimentary 20-minute session to assess outcomes.
  9. Completion.

How do I know life coaching will work for me?

You have nothing to lose! Call or email for a free 30-minute coaching session and discover what success coaching has to offer. Or better yet answer our questionnaire first, to provide a starting point for our initial conversation. Like so many people, you'll find that a success coach helps you go from NO Where to NOW Here.

How is life coaching different from therapy?

Therapy often entails diving into your past, exploring what has happened in order to uncover and process painful reactions to current-day events. Coaching may also include some discussion about past beliefs that may be blocking you, but it generally focuses on your current views, values, assumptions and expectations in order to maximize what is important to you. I often coach happy, well-adjusted people who are just interested in understanding themselves better in order to make decisions that best suit them. Unlike therapy, coaching can take place over the phone.

How often will our sessions take place?

The frequency of the sessions depends on where you are now and what you want to accomplish. Usually we will meet for 20 to 50 minutes a week, after the initial two-hour assessment.

How long does coaching take?

Again, this depends on the goal. The average range is four to eight weeks.

What kinds of goals are people meeting through success coaching?

The goals that are achieved through coaching can range from increasing a person's choices in life and career to co-creating a strategic plan for a new or existing business. Most of my new coaching clients tell me that they realized that they weren't where they wanted to be and couldn't figure out why or how to move forward. Initially many people say their goal is to feel satisfied, fulfilled and/or balanced. Once we are able to talk a bit more, we develop new goals that vary greatly from one person to another.

Do I need to take any kind of assessment before beginning a success coaching program?

We can start your coaching program at any time. But you may find that the Motivation Questionnaire helps us focus imediately on what's truly important to you. So it's not a requirement, but it will make our work easier and more efficient.
